This issue is on a hot topic from the 2017 HIA National conference for builders to take on board smart technology and see how it ties in with Sunshine Coasts development.

 The 2017 Housing Industry Association National Conference held on Hamilton Island May 27-29^th resulted in strong discussion on Government policy changes, and special congratulations to Ryan Designer Homes Director, Pat Ryan, who was  elected as Vice President for Queensland . Pat is humbled by the appointment, and looks forward to the opportunity to give back to an industry he has been part off for 45 years, and to represent the interests of the Queensland building industry.

One of the Keynote Speakers we had the pleasure of listening too, was futurist Steven Sammartino, not only an entertainer but confirming Ryan Designer Homes belief we need to Future proof our homes.  

As builders we need to keep on top of Smart technology. A few valid "must do’s" we should already be installing into our designs pre wiring for solar charging electric cars, as it is predicted within 10 years 80% of population will invest in Electric cars, and yes, we need to consider landing pads for Drone delivery for take- out and materials.

Renewable energies will be the norm for the future of energy supply, as more and more people recognise their environmental and cost benefits. With 62% of energy consumed in Australian homes being used for heating, cooling and hot water, utilising renewable forms of energy is the logical decision, with plenty of scope to implement this transition in your own home. 

Keep an eye out for Steve in November as he is heading to Sunshine Coast. A speaker not to be missed.

The jury is still out on the proposed Brisbane Road carpark . The site is located corner of Smith and Brisbane road, behind the Mooloolaba's Esplanade beachfront, where the Sunshine Coast Council's old car park with 187 car spaces lies. There's a Tender out on a multi- story carpark  to redevelop on this site, and turn the Esplanade foreshore into an ocean walk and new public recreation space.  We look forward to council decision within the next few weeks.

An interesting fact from the HIA conference: Did you know the 1 in 9 people in Australia are employed in Construction linked Industries. Astonishing !!.
